About Holi 2026
Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is one of the most vibrant and joyous celebrations in Hinduism. It marks the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil, commemorating the story of Prahlad and the demoness Holika.
The festival is famous for its colorful powder (gulal) and water throwing, where people playfully smear each other with bright colors. Celebrations include bonfires on Holika Dahan (the night before), traditional sweets like gujiya, and festive music and dance.
Holi transcends social barriers and brings communities together in a spirit of forgiveness, renewal, and joy. It's celebrated primarily in India and Nepal, but has gained popularity worldwide.
