About Earth Day 2026
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG in more than 193 countries.
The day grew out of the environmental movement and has become the world's largest civic observance. Earth Day events focus on issues like climate change, pollution, deforestation, and renewable energy.
People celebrate Earth Day by participating in activities such as tree planting, beach cleanups, environmental education programs, and advocacy for environmental policies. It serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to protect the planet.
